English Heritage
Mr and Mrs Duncan have lived in this property since 1962. They have a daughter, Gay and a Pekinese dog called Beau. The property is an 18C building and was originally 3 workman’s cottages.
Millennium Chronicle
This building still retains its old beams dating from the 17th century, and was originally three cottages called “Magpie Cottages” on account of their black and white appearance. Adjoining the one nearest the road was a blacksmith’s shop, and here a very popular gentleman, Mr Major Bricknell, carried on his daily work, shoeing all the local horses and occasionally turning out fine ornamental pieces of wrought ironwork. The orchard contains one of the oldest apple trees in the village.
