English Heritage
A popular lady in the village, Mrs Hogg, had a butcher’s shop at 1 Stratford Road; she also took butter and eggs to the nearby markets in her pony trap. This interesting cottage is one of the oldest in Nash. It is believed to date from the 13th century and has a “Cruck” construction indicated by an upstairs beam. There is also plenty of “wattle and daub” infilling and a floor of rose coloured handmade bricks. When the cottage was undergoing alterations in 1964, Mrs Gilchrist discovered a delightful inglenook. The roof is thatched with wheat-straw, and there is an ancient well in the yard.

(3). COTTAGE
about 80 yards N.E. of the church, is of one storey and an attic. A small adjoining barn is also of the 17th century, built of timber, and weather-boarded; the roof is thatched; two of the trusses have large bent timbers carried to the ground.
Condition – Fairly good.
These buildings are all of the 17th century and almost all are of two storeys; the walls generally are timber-framed, with brick filling which has been considerably restored; the roofs are thatched. Nearly all are of rectangular plan, and have old chimney stacks, some partly restored.
